The conflict in Darfur which started in 2003 has claimed over 200,000 lives and displaced over two million individuals. The conflict stages the Sudanese government and its unofficially sponsored Janjaweed militia against a conglomeration of rebel forces seeking "liberation". This conlfict, in conjunction with years of drought, overpopulation and desertification of the area have lead to widespread famine and other health issues. The population of Darfur has been displaced and robbed of their humanity.
